My career path is not that of a typical accountant. Although I trained in Bristol with a top 6 international practice and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1996, my business and accountancy skills have since been forged by a varied set of roles in the world of commerce, including internal auditor, financial controller, business coach and business owner; this experience has taught me that, when it comes to accountancy, the goal is not just to produce a set of accounts to file at Companies House and forget about, but to produce meaningful financial data that can be understood and acted upon by management so that their business can operate more effectively and more profitably.
